It is very interesting to look at fulfilled prophecy and see how it is filled with such exact detail, but it is also almost scary to study the unfulfilled prophecies and see how they are converging with today’s headlines! Ancient prophecies in today’s headlines. Even unbelievers, and those who know nothing about end-time prophecy can sense that something is going on, that the world is in a transforming upheaval and things are changing.
For the believer, it is humbling and exciting, and it brings that sense of urgency to share the message, that invitation from Jesus Christ. What is His plan for the believers and what is His plan for them to escape the coming wrath of God against an unbelieving world that openly defies Him?
I cannot help but think – it will not be much longer, because although I don’t know the day or the hour, I do know that, worldwide the signs are there, happening now. If the shadows of the end time events of Ezekiel 38 and 39 are appearing, then we know the Rapture is even closer. And those events are in our world news.
They are before us, yet most of us don’t seem to realize the events are converging with prophecy.
Ezekiel chapters 38 through 39 is a prophecy that will take place during the Seven Year Tribulation, it describes an alignment of countries, all of which decide to invade Israel. Yet at the time of the prophecy, there was no Israel. And there certainly was not a country from which Rosh would decide to take plunder! There was barely a Rosh.
There are nine countries that are mentioned by these ancient names. I’m going to list them by their ancient names and by modern name by location.
1. Magog: Central Asia, namely Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgystan, Turkministan, Tajikistan, Afghanistan, (basically all the ‘stans) and probably the Ukraine. I believe the reason Putin is invading Ukraine is much more than just a war between Nato and Russia. There are prophetic implicatons that this will just be the beginning of the move toward Israel.
2. Rosh: Russia Take note of the warning in Ezekiel 38:1-6 (see below)
3. Meshech: Turkey
4. Tubal: Turkey
5. Persia: 1935 became Iran; 1979 became the Islamic state of Iran.
6. Cush: Ethiopia, including Sedan
7. Put: Libya
8. Gomer: Turkey
9. Targormah: Turkey
Currently these countries surround Israel. These countries have never before been aligned and in position exactly as it is described in the prophecy. Russia, Iran and Turkey are entrenched in Syria – but the prophecy does not mention Syria or the USA. Syria is already taken over by Russia, Turkey and Iran. The USA has a presence there but we are reducing it. But what about the USA, where is it's presence in the end times prophecies? What happens to the USA that nullifies it to the point that it's not worth mentioning.
Ezekiel 38: 1-6 The attack on Israel is being set up just as the 2600 year old prophecy described it, and God is going to set His face against this coalition.
Ezekiel writes: “…Son of Man, set your face against Gog, of the land of Magog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech and Tubal and prophesy against him and say, ‘Thus says the Lord God; Behold, I am against you, O Gog, the prince of Rosh, Meshech, and Tubal. I will turn you around, put hooks into your jaws and lead you out with all your army, horses and horsemen, all splendidly clothed, a great company with bucklers and shields, all of them handling swords. Persia, Ethiopia, and Libya are with them, all of them with shields and helmet; Gomer and all its troops – many people are with you.
When will this happen? Ezekiel 39: 8-9 tells us it will happen, “…In the latter years you will come into the land of those brought back from the sword and gathered from many people on the mountains of Israel, which had long been desolate; they were brought out of the nations, and now all of them dwell in safety. You will ascend, coming like a storm, covering the land like a cloud, you and all your troops, and many people with you."
The latter years - I believe that seeing these things happen is an indication that we are "in the latter years."
Currently the man in charge in Syria is Vladimir Putin of Russia (Rosh) Is Putin Gog? It is an interesting prospect.
Where is Syria? Why isn’t Syria mentioned in the Ezekiel prophecy since all of the players are lined up inside Syria? Damascus is the capital of Syria, built on a desert oasis, nourished by the Borada River. It is among the oldest, some say The Oldest, continuously inhabited cities of the earth.
In April of 1946 Damascus became the capital of Syria. Who is left of the Syrian government? As a country, for all practical purposes Syria is already a puppet of those who occupy it. It will most likely be divided among those who currently occupy it: Russia, Iran and Turkey. I'm just speculating that might be the reason it is not specifically mentioned. And what if something happens to the Borada River?
Also notable missing from the list of countries that will attack Israel is Saudi Arabia. Is Saudi in the prophecy?
We are told in Ezekiel 38: 13 “Sheba, Dedan, the merchants of Tarshish, and all their young lions will say to you (to the enemies of Israel) ‘Have you come to take plunder? Have you gathered your army to take booty, to carry away silver and gold, to take away livestock and goods, to take great plunder?”
Interestingly the military coalition currently fighting Islamic State in Iraq and Syria, and to stop Iran in Yemen, are comprised of the allied and Western military forces that are currently working together and they are the ones mentioned in Ezekiel. But they only question the invasion of Israel, they do not help Israel. (as of summer 2022, we are reducing troops in Syria)
And interestingly, President Trumps Abrahamic Accord is the basis of peace treaties between Israel and a growing number of Islamic countries. (As of March 2021) Saudi Arabia is negotiating to sign the accord.
Sheba - Saudi Arabia, United Arab Emerits
Dedan - Various European Countries
Merchants of Tarshish - United Kingdom and possibly America
But none of these come to Israel's aid, they just shake their head in disapproval while doing nothing. Why would America only protest? Aren’t we Israel’s best friend? Isn't America a supper power that has a voice?
Why wouldn’t America come to Israel’s aide with aggressive military assistance? Perhaps the leadership of America is on the side of Israel's enemies, perhaps the USA is too weakened by The Green Dragon/The Green New Deal, to do anything but try to survive the devastation that is slowly and soon rapidly killing it.
And consider how any support at all might change if the Rapture takes place just prior to this prophecy happening. What would happen to America if her population were suddenly to become radically liberal because of the absence of any Christian influence? It's pretty bad already, but what would happen then?
Consider what is going on in American politics right now, and how our Constitutional government holds on by a thin and unraveling cord, to the things that made it great.
I’ve watched events falling into place for several years now, while noting that our news covers none of these events beyond a brief mention. The Wars and Rumors of Wars continue to escalate while most of America is in the dark, but the players of the prophecies are setting up.
In spite of all the signs, our political leaders focus on peace and safety, which they say will happen if only we control our climate, restrict our movements, close our Churches (they are trying to get trans-gender and pedifilial added to the list of minorities, which would mean it would be unlawful to not have these minorities included in your Church's leadership,) wear masks (they just can't quite let that one go) and divide Jerusalem. The two state solution of our leaders. The governments would have us focused on the climate, free health care and peace and safety thru government controlled unity.
Our liberal politicians try to lead us to the ideas of a global community, preparing the way for a one world government and the Pope has abandoned all Christian teaching in favor of the unifying of religions.
How does God view the dividing of Jerusalem? Joel 3: 1-2 "In those days and at that time, when I restore the fortunes of Judah and Jerusalem, I will gather all nations and bring them down to the Valley of Jehoshaphat. There I will put them on trial for what they did to my inheritance, my people Israel, because they scattered my people among the nations and divided up my land." This is the Battle of Armageddon, the last battle, the last rebellion permitted by God. Mankind has been given grace to seek salvation, and this is the last chance. But there are things that take place before this battle.
We continually hear how dividing Jerusalem - the two state solution between Israel and the so called Palestinians will bring peace. That is not how God sees it. And it is not how it would play out. This dividing of Jerusalem is an open defiance of God.
I Thessalonians 5:3 “For when they shall say, Peace and Safety; then suddenly destruction comes upon them, as labor pains upon a woman.”
You know how birth pains work don't you? There is a pregnancy, and then there are the signs that the woman is in labor - and there is no going back... the signs of labor grow in intensity!
It seems that everyone is focused on how to attain peace, but no one is preparing us for the coming war and make no mistake that war will affect the entire world. The enemies of the God of Abraham, Isaac and Joseph will not be content to have peace with the people of God, they won't stop their quest to wipe them off the face of the earth.
But Everything Has Always Been Like This, the world has always had wars, rumors of wars, famines and pestilences… Right? And people have been saying it for all these years:
2 Peter 3:4 “Where is the promise of His return? Everything continues as it always has.”
In Matthew 24 and Luke 21, when the Disciples asked, “Master, what are the signs of the ‘end of the age,’ they knew the end was coming eventually, they knew the world as we know it was going to end. They asked the questions we want to hear the answers to. What are the signs of the end of the age? And what happens when it gets here? And what about the believers? What happens between the signs and the 2nd coming?
In the last 2000 years the mystery of the gospel has been happening – namely that Messiah came, and He is coming again.
We’ve been in the last days so long we’ve forgotten to ‘see’ the signs! Now the question is, “How far down are we into the last days?” Most people believe the world will end as we know it someday, but that day is always thought to be way in the future…But is it still way in the future?
John said, “Beloved, it is the last hour.” So, how far are we into the last hour? Jesus said, “Learn from the Fig Tree?” If the signs are current for the Fig Tree, the time is pretty short. There's more about the Fig Tree Generation on another page.)
So when we look at Israel what do we see? Currently Israel has the world’s 8th largest economy. They are doing very well. Currently Israel has the world’s 3rd most powerfully advanced military. And currently Israel is surrounded by her enemies, while she maintains one of the safest state neighborhoods on earth. And we see the daily attacks!! We’re talking about a country the size of New Jersey. How and when did this happen?
May 14, 1948 Against all odds, and in one day, Israel became a country. Isaiah 66: 8-9 “Who has heard such a thing? Who has seen such things? Shall the earth be made to give birth in one day? Or shall a nation be born at once? For as soon as Zion was in labor, she gave birth to her children.”
There was a generation that saw the Fig Tree planted, my generation; and against all odds it put forth leaves, and today it produces fruit. Are we the generation that will not pass away before the prophecies take place?
Are we the terminal generation of the church? Are you looking up? Or are you among those who say, “Where is the promise of His coming…?” Before the prophetic dominoes of God’s wrath begin to fall, the Church will be “caught up,” to escape the coming wrath of His judgement on an unbelieving world. Are you among those who are looking up? Or are you among those who are saying, “Where is the promise of His coming?”
2 Peter 3: 3 2 Peter 3: 2-4 “…be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the Apostles of the Lord and Savior, knowing this first: that scoffers will come in the last days, walking according to their own lusts, and saying, ‘where is the promise of His coming? For since the fathers fell asleep all things continue as they were from the beginning of creation."
We are the generation that should not be found sleeping.
